EIT HEI INITIATIVE
Innovation Capacity Building
for Higher Education
The EIT’s HEI Initiative: Innovation Capacity Building for Higher Education was launched by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) and is led by EIT RawMaterials − one of the EIT’s Knowledge and Innovation Communities. The initiative is part of the EIT’s 2021–2027 EIT Strategy and it aims to help higher education institutions to build the capacity to innovate and to teach innovation and entrepreneurship.
In March 2020, the HEI Initiative launched a Pilot Call for Proposals, inviting higher education institutions to design activities that will improve their entrepreneurial and innovation capacity. The BOOGIE-U is one of the funded pilot projects.
We want to align the experiences and competencies acquired by the three KIC partners (mainly involved in the Digital, RawMaterials and Manufacturing KICs, but also more recently in EIT Food) in cutting edge entrepreneurial and innovation education to the model of challenge-based innovation explored by the ECIU University alliance, where all consortium partners, together with other European HEIs, will create a playground for solving multi-disciplinary societal challenges in entrepreneurial ways while providing personalized learning and new business opportunities for different stakeholders: students, young researchers, start-up personnel, company and public administration employees needing an upskill in innovation and entrepreneurship.
